How our technology works
Translating a website is usually a complex process, you have to choose a specific plugin for your content management system and hope that it is compatible with everything on your website. Whenever you perform a version update, you also have to check that your website is still compatible. This can all be very time-consuming and expensive.
Our technology is different. We don't use any plugins or integrations, so you don't have to worry about compatibility issues.
Dilingual acts as a translation proxy, meaning that it sits between your website and the user, translating the content on the fly. Of course, you will still have the ability to edit any content.
The way your website traffic is served is as following:
- Website visitors visit "de.example.com" which is hosted on Dilingual.
- Dilingual forwards the request to "example.com".
- "example.com" sends back the untranslated response to Dilingual.
- Dilingual is translating all the content on the fly and returning translated versions to the website visitors.
Performing a website using a translation proxy has many advantages, such as:
- It's much simpler to set up and you don't need any technical knowledge.
- It's compatible with any website or platform.
- You can easily add or remove languages whenever you want.
- We can provide a fully managed service so you don't have to worry about anything.
Our team is constantly improving our software to make sure your website is served fast and ranks as high as possible on search engines such as Google.

What is the difference between reduced and advanced automatic translation?
For reduced automatic translation, we rely on a simplified, word-to-word translation engine that uses machine translation to find appropriate translations for the texts on your home page. Often, manual rework by your team or a professional translator is necessary to formulate the texts in a business-grade language.
Advanced Automatic Translation relies on state-of-the-art and industry-leading technology to render the translations on your website in a business-ready vocabulary. Often no manual rework is necessary. Using artificial intelligence, the language models are at a very high linguistic level and in many cases indistinguishable from manual translation.
Is Dilingual compatible with my website?
Dilingual works with all major CMS such as Wordpress, Wix, Joomla etc and all other static websites based on known web standards.
